How to get certified as a Divemaster
Requirements of the course
A) Be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, or have a cross over qualifying certification from another dive training organization.
B) Be certified as PADI Rescue Diver, or have a cross over qualifying certification from another dive training organization.
C) Have at least 20 logged dives.
D) Be at least 18 years old at the beginning of the PADI Divemaster training
E) Have a medical authorization for diving issued by a physician, stating that you are in good health conditions for diving. The medical authorization must be done in the past 12 months. The doctor who signs the form can not be the candidate.
F) Submit proof of training in primary care (CPR) and secondary care (first aid instruction), like the PADI Emergency First Response (or other training in CPR / First Aid) made in the last 12 months
Divemaster Candidates must attend:
1 .- A PADI Open Water Diver, confined water course.
2 .- Other 4 or more confined water sessions of any other PADI program.
3 .- At least one open water training session of the PADI Open Water Diver course.
4 .- At least one open water training session of the PADI Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver course or other PADI Specialty.
5 .- Three open water training dives of any PADI program.
6 .- Supervision of certified divers out of a formal course.
Certification requirements.
1 .- Provide proof of 60 logged dives, including experience in deep diving, night diving and underwater navigation
2 .- Read comply and accept the License Agreement and PADI affiliation.
3 .- Approval of all the segments of the Divemaster course.
Candidates equipment requirements.
During the open water scuba training, each Divemaster candidate must be equipped with the adequate equipment for the diving environment. This includes, amongst others:
-- Fins, Mask, Snorkel
-- Tank
-- Regulator and alternative air source
-- BCD with low-pressure inflator
-- Weight belts with quick release system
-- Isothermal suit (wet or dry suit according environment)
-- ** Time device, depth and pressure gauge or Diving Computer
-- ** Compass
-- ** One set of emergency audible signals (whistle, air horn, etc) and other set of visible ones (buoy, etc).
** This equipment should be personal and is considered indispensable.
